Don’t let the pause fool you—this battle isn’t over. California’s AB495 may have been placed in the suspense file, but that doesn’t mean it’s dead by any stretch of the imagination. The threat still looms, and now is not the time for the Body of Christ to grow silent, become indifferent, comfortable or complacent! As believers, we are called to stand firm in truth, anchored in God’s Word and unwavering in prayer. Isaiah 26:3–4 reminds us that:
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You. Trust in the Lord forever, for in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength.”
We must remember that our peace doesn’t come from political outcomes, but from the unchanging character of our Lord!
Sure, it’s easy to grow weary or assume that a delay might mean defeat, but Scripture urges and exhorts us to continue doing good as we read in Galatians 6:9 where we are told to:
“…not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.”
This is a season for persistent intercession, for unwavering trust in the sovereignty of our Lord. I am reminded often by the Holy Spirit of 1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 to:
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
AB495 still represents a very real danger to parental rights. It’s a slippery slope that can lead to other freedoms being stripped away such as our freedom of religion, worship and other freedoms we hold dear not only in the state of California, but all throughout this great nation we call America—and for many, home!
Now more than ever, we must keep our spiritual armor on, our hearts aligned with God’s will, binding the mind of Christ to ours and praying continually. Stay alert. Stay faithful. And above all, keep trusting in the Lord!
