“You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same?” —Matthew 5:43-46
Wow that is definitely easier said than done...for sure! As the days get more and more evil, being able to live by the verses above definitely stretches me way beyond where I am comfortable. But Jesus did not call us to be comfortable. As a matter of fact, He said Himself that in order to follow Him we were going to have to deny ourselves and take up our cross daily. So count it all joy and take full advantage of growing closer to Him and leaning on Him more each day. Finally never forget that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but our battle is spiritual and those that anger us the most are in the death grip of satan, just as every believer was before they surrendered to Christ.
"And you, who once were alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now He has reconciled in the body of His flesh through death, to present you holy, and blameless, and above reproach in His sight." —Colossians 1:21-22
So instead of allowing anger to cloud your thoughts, stop and pray that they would “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ” and take advantage of every opportunity to share the Gospel. You will be presenting someone with the greatest gift ever offered.
